May Photo A Day

I've been neglectful about taking photo's this month due to one thing or the other, but here are some for the last few days of May.

May 28th the weather today

 May 29th a number

May 31st something beautiful

The knicker shot wasn't taken on the 28th but the weather was the same so I figured it wasn't cheating....much.

The Easiest Tart Ever

.....no NOT me!!! I'm referring to Tomato and Mozzarella Tart which I knocked up when my friends Samya and Jackie came to lunch this week.  I got the recipe from the interweb as I'd seen it on some poncey cookery prog years ago and thought it looked rather tasty and... quick!

Defrost one sheet of Jus-rol frozen puff pastry, score a border approx 1 cm in from the edge and prick the centre a few times with a fork.  Bang in the oven for about 10 mins, meanwhile slice some mozzarella and tomatoes. Remove the pastry from oven and press down the centre part with a spoon, layer on the filling, drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.  Bung back in the oven for a bit longer, can't remember how long as I'd had a few to drink by then.  Remember to remove from oven before it burns, garnish with a few basil leaves et voila! Serve with salad, new spuds and loads of wine.

If you want to impress your friends, do NOT serve on a baking tray like I did!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.  xxxxxxxxxx

Standen Delivered

Last week I took a long overdue visit to Standen, a National Trust property that is only about 5 miles away from my home, it's shocking really that I have never visited beforeI went with my friend Debbie and we really enjoyed looking at the decor and rooms which were set in the style of the 1920's and staged according to the time of day that they were most used. Standen was built for a wealthy London solicitor James Beale by architect Philip Webb between 1892-94, and the National Trust acquired much knowledge of the house from the grandchildren of Beale, the last of whom died last year. Here's what the website has to say.

An Arts and Crafts family home with Morris & Co. interiors, set in a beautiful hillside garden
A Late Victorian family home brought vividly to life in this gem of the Arts & Crafts Movement.
Standen is hidden at the end of a quiet Sussex lane with breathtaking views over the High Weald and Weirwood Reservoir. The design of the house is a monument to the combined genius of architect Philip Webb and his friend William Morris. All the big names of the Arts & Crafts period are represented, including ceramics by William De Morgan and metalwork by W. A. S. Benson.

ahem...I'm not sure Andrex was available in the 1920's!!

Externally, it's not the most beautiful house in the world but definitely worth a visit on a miserable Wednesday afternoon.

Before I go, here's a quick card for my friends Tom & Mary who amazingly celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this week.  I am entering it for this week's Clean & Simple sketch challenge.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.
Until next time.

A Slack Snapper

..is what I've been lately, the weather hasn't helped.  It's been pissing down for weeks now which is not very conducive for lovely happy-snaps, so I've only taken two recently for May Photo-a Day and here they are.

Another Lovely Parcel

...arrived today courtesy of the very talented Elizabeth at Making Good Use as I recently won her blog giveaway.  Look at the lovely delights found within.

A beautifully knitted beanie hat with vintage button brooch, A stripy tote bag made from a pillowcase, some pretty fabric brads, a beautiful zippered pouch with gingham lining and a hand knitted dishcloth completed with knife, fork and spoon design.  How lucky am I ?  Thank you so much Elizabeth.  I will be having my own giveaway later this year to celebrate a rather (ahem) large birthday.

Since the arrival of the previous gorgeous goodies last week, a certain moggy has taken up residence in the wrapping paper!

Now to answer the questions mentioned in my last post which accompany the blog appreciation award kindly passed on by Curtise.

How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started blogging in Sept. 2009 as I'm a papercrafter and wanted to be able to enter my cards in craft challenges.  I had no idea how to go about setting up a blog and linking etc. and very generously the super-talented Chris shared her wealth of bloggy info with me.

What type of blogs do you like to follow/read?
Mostly craft (card) blogs, (although I am not keen on 'cutesy') second-hand/vintage and photography blogs.

What is the one thing you'd like to improve on as a blogger?
I fear my writing style is dull and I'm not witty, erudite or articulate enough to express myself in a way that is interesting for others to read. I am better than I was but there's still a lot of room for improvement.

I had a lovely day out today at a nearby National Trust property so I'll be back soon with some snaps.
Until then, ttfn. xxxxx
