Not Quick But Simple

The first title that came to mind for this post was 'Quick and Simple' but then I remembered that this card had been anything but quick. I used my new SU Good Neighbours set and it took me several attempts to get the houses and the roofs in alignment, well almost! The air was blue I can tell you and as I haven't felt like getting in the 'crafting zone' recently, using these stamps now was probably not a great idea.

Thought I would enter it into the Colour Create Challenge where they want to see cards using blue, white and kraft. The blue stripy cardstock is from an Artylicious cd rom and the sentiment was stamped with a Hero Arts alphabet onto a label cut with my new Labels One nesties. (I know, everyone else has had them for ages!) The ribbon and button are from my stash and I did some faux stitching to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping to look.

Blog Candy

Hello there,

Just a quick word to let you know that Georgia over at Kitty Krafts is celebrating her blog anniversary this week and has some crafting goodies to give away. So hop on over and take a look.

Also, I would like to say a big "Thank You" to Chris at Sketching Stamper who has just taught me how to do links, (amongst other things) and believe me, she has had her work cut out! The computer said "no" quite a few times, as I just haven't got a clue when it comes to new computer stuff, but I'm hoping it will
soon become second nature to me.

RSS Fan....tastic

These are the 'ingredients' for the current RSS challenge. My fan was made using the template on the blog and apart from the design paper, all other materials came from my stash.

The pretty floral paper came from K & Co and I covered four pieces of the fan with this. Next I printed four pretty ladies from a Debbi Moore CD rom and cut these out using a small oval nestie. I framed the ladies with tiny flowers which were punched out, (I had to do 48, phew!) and used Liquid Pearls for the centres. The other three pieces were stamped with a very old heart stamp from Penny Black, sentiments by Hobby Art and Clear Choice and a swirl from Artemio. All pieces were inked around the edges with red ink and a strip of lace added.
To finish off, I made a tassel with some embroidery thread.

I enjoyed making something a bit different, RSS come up with some great idea's. At least I won't be swooning this summer now I have a fan! (Some hopes!)

Looking forward to my class at The Craft Barn tomorrow, where hopefully I will learn about colouring and shading. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Thanks for taking a look.

Another Tag and a Win

Hello again,
Here is another tag which I actually made the day before Tuesday Taggers announced their challenge. I was inspired by Fliss @ Stampers Chef (sorry, still can't do links) as she had posted a lovely collage piece on her blog and I wanted to have a go at something similar with stamping. I made a tag for my first attempt as there is less space to cover.

I coloured the background in the same way as the tag in the previous post, using Navy and Turquoise dye inks, however the colours in this photo are not very good, as usual! The butterfly and numbers stamps are from PaperArtsy and the others are by Crafty Individuals. The butterfly was stamped out again, cut out and layered onto the original image for some dimension, but again you can't see this in the photo. Ribbons from my stash finished it off.

Had a lovely surprise when I logged on this morning, (which is no mean feat these days as I am having mega computer trouble) I discovered that I had won a voucher for The Craft Barn in their draw. Can't wait to spend it.

Thanks for looking and all your kind comments.

Tagtastic!

Hello,
More snow again this morning and another poor photo I'm afraid. Can't seem to get any good ones lately. This week Tuesday Taggers want to see a tag and the theme is Birds, so here is my entry.

I saw a tag card on another blog somewhere (but afraid I can't remember whose) and was inspired to try it out. The base card is Kraft which I inked around the edges with Versafine Sepia. The main image is a bird from an Inkadinkado set, and I stamped this onto white cardstock which I had coloured with Chartreuse and Dark Green dye inks on Cut n Dry foam. I masked the bird and then stamped the branch (from Hero Arts) in opposite corners and also stamped some flowers randomly.(also Inkadinkado) Next I stamped out some more flowers, cut them out and 'decoupaged' them on to the branch and added some green gems to the centres. A final touch was a little bit of stardust stickles on the flowers and a couple of ribbons in the top.

Much of the detail is lost
due to the terrible photo but thanks for looking anyway.

Sun Goddess

This card was made for the Crafty Calendar challenge this month where the theme is Keeping Warm, and the optional extra is texture. I thought I'd go for a different slant on this idea and also use some nice sunny colours.

I think my beach babe (from See D's) qualifies for the keeping warm theme. I used some whitewash coredinations which I embossed in a CB circles folder and then sandpapered, ribbons and a flip-flop button were also used for texture. The backing papers are by Crafters Companion and My Mind's Eye.

I don't know about you, but as pretty as the snow is, I'm getting a bit fed up with it now. My mum keeps saying that it's nowhere near as bad as 1947 and the schools didn't close then.
Ah yes, but then that was before 'Elf and Safety' when they allowed kids to go out and play in it and fall over,
.................don't get me started!

Keep warm!

Black & White

This is the theme for Tuesday Taggers challenge this week and below is my entry. Another lousy photograph again due to poor light. Woke up to find several inches of snow on the ground again and very grey skies.

This card was very simple to make. I drew around a cd twice onto some black cardstock and cut out the two circles. I scored one piece horizontally near the top and then stuck the two pieces together. The other two black and white circles were cut out with nesties, the white circle was stamped with a mini stamp by PaperArtsy and embossed with Disco Black EP. (although none of the sparkle shows in this picture) The black circle was stamped with the bird image from Inkadinkado and embossed with White EP. After assembling, I die-cut a flower using a Sissix die and stamped out a sentiment by Personal Impressions. A few pearls finished it off nicely.

I was pleased with this monochrome themed card as I had not previously embossed white EP onto black card and was expecting a less than neat result, however, amazingly my first attempt was perfect.

Hope you like it too and thanks for looking.

Lemon and Lime

Hello Everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed the new year's celebrations and have recovered from your hangovers!! I didn't over imbibe at all this xmas, must be getting old or something........

Here is my entry for Colour Create Challenge no.35 where the theme is a very zingy lemon and lime, with the optional extra spring/summer flowers.

The leafy branch stamp is a new one I bought this week by Hero Arts and I think it will get a lot of use. I used Versamark to stamp this and went over with it very vibrant yellow and lime chalks but unfortunately this photo does not give a true representation of the colours, and they look like a sludgy green! (Roll on the summer when I can photo outdoors again) I did some faux stitching and distressing around the edges and added the gingham ribbon. The flowers are also by Hero Arts and these were again coloured with chalks. The image was cut out with nesties and layered onto another oval of lime bazzill card which had been through the swiss dots folder. One sentiment and a bit of inking around the edges later, and hey presto!

Thank you for looking and a happy new year to you all.
